Communion of Persons

Inspiration for the Song

The human person cannot live without love.

The human being "remains a being that is incomprehensible for himself, his life is senseless, if love is not revealed to him, if he does not encounter love, if he does not experience it and make it his own, if he does not participate intimately in it,” said John Paul II in Redemptor Hominis.

It is in this dimension of self-giving love that the human being finds the "greatness, dignity and value that belong to his humanity” (par. 25).

The human heart of every human person is permeated by solitude. But, the human being is not meant to be “alone.” The fruit of solitude is that one human heart turns to another human heart and finds therein an opening for relationship. It is because of solitude that one person can move towards the fullness of life by being in relationship with another person.

Adam’s experience of being “alone,” his experience of original solitude, teaches him that he is lacking something or better yet, someone. Genesis relates that he lacks a “help” similar to himself. The inspired text also relates that his lack cannot be supplied by any other created thing, plant or animal.

The “help” that Adam lacks is precisely another person with whom he can enter into personal communion. A communion of persons is a relationship wherein one person exists beside another person, for another person (TOB 9.2). The male and female human body plays an indispensable role in this communion.

It is through the body and its innate “spousal character” that man and woman have “the power to express the love by which the human person becomes a gift, thus fulfilling the deep meaning of his or her being and existence” (TOB 32.1).

Through the body is incarnated the beautiful communion of persons.

Through the body, the mystery of love is revealed and experienced in all its glory and grandeur.

Review

“My wife and I continue to listen to your music quite often, and are always struck by its freshness, no matter how often listened to. That is quite remarkable in my long experience with  music enjoyment.”
